The Android platform is definitely the go-to choice for geeks. The OS is so highly customizable that you can spend more time tweaking your device than using it to … you know … actually be productive.

To get the most out of your Android device, you will have to dive a little deeper into its features and functions than you would with, say, a device running iOS. You don’t necessarily have to root your device, but you’ll probably need a new launcher, a file manager, and some nifty apps that help to customize the look of your device. Popular launchers include Nova and Apex.

There are so many options and possibilities that it can get a little overwhelming. Thankfully, there are sites out there that do most of the hard work for you, telling you exactly what settings to change, what launcher to use, and even providing some files you’ll need to make your theme sleek and professional-looking.

You can go with one of these templates, or you can use them as inspiration for your own custom android theme.

Probably the best site out there for custom themes is mycolorscreen. It has a very active community, and you can browse through different android themes based on their popularity. There are even handy video tutorials available for some of the themes on YouTube.

To give you an example of what’s possible, here are some of the themes that are popular right now on mycolorscreen. You can click the link in the caption for each picture to get more details about the launcher, files, and apps you will need for each theme, as well as instructions to set it up.

This is an orange-themed minimalist design:

This next one isn’t as minimalist, but still pretty simple. It gives you access to a lot of apps from one, beautiful-looking screen:

I love the color scheme on this one, which provides even more access from the home screen:

Finally, here is the one I use. It’s not the most gorgeous-looking custom android theme, but it gives me access to just about everything I want from one screen, which is why I went with it:

If you’re thinking that none of these custom themes for Android appeals to you, don’t worry. There are literally thousands of ideas out there, and you will be able to find one that blows your mind.
