News has been slow on the next-gen console front. After the PS4 launch debacle (or triumph, if you’re a PS4 fanboy), Sony hasn’t released any more details about the PS4. Microsoft has maintained its irritating official silence with respect to the Xbox 720, and no interesting rumors about the next Xbox have surfaced in the past couple of weeks.

So I thought now would be a good time to look not to the future, but to the past. A time before smart phones, cloud storage, and Sim City 5. Yup, I’m talking about the 90s era of gaming. Back when you didn’t have achievement notifications, gamer profiles, or downloadable content.

For this piece, I’m going to focus only on Nintendo games from the 90s. Otherwise it would be way too hard to pick only ten nostalgia-inducing games. I’m limiting myself to the Super Nintendo (SNES), and Nintendo 64 (N64). Handhelds like the Game Boy systems are not included.

Without further ado, here are the ten most nostalgic Nintendo games from the 90s era.
